A man has died and another is seriously injured following an incident at a music venue in Surrey.

Police were called to G Live, in London Road, Guildford, shortly after 11:45 GMT on Saturday to a report that two men were trapped under a metal door.

One man suffered serious injuries to his legs, but was declared dead at the scene. The other man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

A concert by the Cornwall-based Fisherman’s Friends was cancelled.

A statement from G Live said a serious accident had resulted “in the tragic death of a member of a touring visiting company’s personnel”.

“This is a terribly sad day and our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this incredibly difficult time,” it said.

Surrey Police are investigating, and the Health and Safety Executive – which investigates work based accidents – has been notified.
